Day 5 – Ashkelon

“These are the nations: the Philistines (those living under the five Philistine rulers), all the Canaanites, the Sidonians, and Hivites living in the mountains of Lebanon from Mount Baal-hermon to Lebo-hamath.” Judges 3:3 NLT

The second ruler of Philistine was Ashkelon, meaning city of migration. Migration is the term describing traveling from one habitation to another for a period of time. Just like birds fly from one hemisphere to the other following summer, we migrate in our spiritual lives too. When you accept Jesus, there is a migration from worldly to eternal thinking – a shift from a “me” mentality to the mind of Christ. Every step in spiritual growth is a migration from one Truth to the next; building a relationship with God.

The enemy’s strategy is to put demonic teaching in your way through false prophets misleading your mind to migrate away from the Truth of God.  “Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teaching that come from demons.” 1 Timothy 4:1 (NLT) Teachings contradicting the true meaning of the Gospel are demonic.

The strategy God gave us is found throughout the pages of the Bible: the Way, Truth, and the Life. “Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!” John 14:6-7 (NLT). Jesus is the Way, the path we follow in our process of migration, the Truth guiding us to our final destination, and the Life ensuring our eternity.

Prayer: Father, I recently realised it is so easy to allow our minds to migrate away from Your truth. Teach us this strategy Lord to protect our minds and that we can use it as a constant reminder to migrate spiritually with Jesus, our Way, Truth, and Light. Amen.
