Day 5 – Mysterious longing
Mysterious longing
“He has made everything beautiful and appropriate in its time. He has also planted eternity [a sense of divine purpose] in the human heart [a mysterious longing which nothing under the sun can satisfy, except God]—yet man cannot find out (comprehend, grasp) what God has done (His overall plan) from the beginning to the end.” Ecclesiastes 3:11 (AMP)
We all have a mysterious longing in our hearts, for a long time I tried to satisfy this longing with various things until I learned that only God can satisfy because He is the One who planted the longing in the first place.
During our “hide and seek” season (winter), we have the opportunity to become still and hear what God has in His heart for us. God promises in His word that He will show us the things which are hidden and I believe this happens when we “hide” in Him.
‘Call to Me and I will answer you, and tell you [and even show you] great and mighty things, [things which have been confined and hidden], which you do not know and understand and cannot distinguish.’ Jeremiah 33:3 (AMP)
When I look at the Quince tree today, I see a tree bearing fruit, not because I see the many blossoms but because I had to look differently. The thing about God that always fascinates me is that He looks at us and sees beauty and purpose only and His heart for us is to do the same.
God has planted something unique and special in your heart, allow your winter season to bring you closer to Him in order to experience His beauty and a plan for you beyond the dead branches and fallen leaves.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for making everything beautiful in its time. Help me to seek Your face as I endure my winter season finding satisfaction in Your will and plan for my life. Amen
