Breath – Day 4
In Order
“So I spoke this message, just as he told me. Suddenly as I spoke, there was a rattling noise all across the valley. The bones of each body came together and attached themselves as complete skeletons.” Ezekiel 37:7 NLT
I have a fond memory of my mother packing out a 3000-puzzle on our dining room table. For weeks we would not have dinner at the table and time and again I would find her with a single puzzle piece playing between her fingers as she intently looks over the strewn pieces. In my little mind, this was chaos at its best! But somehow, she patiently sorted them, and piece by piece each one found its place in its order to complete the picture.
We touched on Ezekiel as he prophesied so there can be life again in the dry bones. But there is an important fact in this story many miss. This was a valley of dry bones, not a valley of skeletons. The bones were not together! Strewn over the valley floor exposed to the elements just like the puzzle pieces. But they were put in order when the breath of God came after Ezekiel prophesied the Word of the Sovereign Lord.
See, the breath of God IS God’s Word. The Word of God brings order to any situation. We read in 1 Corinthians 14:33, “For God is not a God of disorder but of peace, as in all the meetings of God’s holy people.” For this army to rise, the bones had to be placed back in order.
How much more do you think God can put pieces of your life back together if His Word can make dry bones come together?
Prayer: Father, Your Breath creates order in my life and brings peace to my soul. Your Word allows me to breathe deeply and peacefully because I know that You are not a God of disorder, and You will put together – in order – the broken pieces of my situations for Your good. Amen.
