Day 11 – I am MADE IN HIS IMAGE

“Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.” Psalm 139:14 NLT
When I was growing up, and even into my adult years, I found it really difficult to “fit in.” I was always the odd friend and people repeatedly told me how “weird” I was. It seemed like even our pastor thought so when I bombarded him with questions about God and the Bible. Maybe it was just my younger imagination, but I’m sure he was looking for an escape route when he saw me coming.
Being labelled as “weird” was wearisome, and I started to believe that God had made a mistake with me. I held onto this belief for years until God gave me Psalm 139 as the scripture for the Women of the Word ministry. As I prayed (okay, and cried) through the verses, verse 14 became a personal reminder for my heart. The verse reminded me I am made wonderfully complex, just like God’s image. We will never fully understand the complexity of God! And His workmanship (even little old weird me) is marvelous! This immediately replaced the lie that I was a mistake with the truth that I am a marvelous workmanship.
Today, I embrace my complexity instead of thinking I am weird. I love growing into the person God is guiding me to. I am made in His image, and I am loved by Him for it.
Prayer: Father, thank You that I have been made in Your image and that You think I am a marvelous work. Thank You for making me “weird” which allows me to reach others who still believe the lie of the enemy, that they are a mistake. Thank you that I can be me in Your image. Amen.
