A shield is a handheld or arm-mounted barrier designed to protect against, intercept, or deflect incoming threats like weapons, projectiles, or debris. The shield is large enough to extinguish flaming arrows. The shield of faith means that faith can protect, intercept, or deflect threats coming your way. Faith intercepts fear before it penetrates the heart. It can therefore cause you to be brave and bold, standing on the promises of the Lord for the war you have to fight.
Faith is not denial of reality; it is confidence in Godβs character despite reality. Faith is protecting you against the fiery darts of the enemy, which he will shoot until he thinks you have lost your faith. What βfiery dartβ do you need to actively raise your shield against today? What is the enemy using to make you question your faith? Remember, you have a shield to cover your body from these darts and attacks, so that you can walk boldly in Jesusβ authority. The shield of faith, while God is covering your back.
Prayer: Father God, thank You for my shield of faith, fighting off the fiery darts of the enemy. Thank You for giving me the authority to walk boldly and fight from victory in Your name. Amen.
