Day 11 –Timing

“About three o’clock in the morning” Matthew 14:25a NLT
When we pray, especially during stormy times, we often desire an immediate answer. We wish for the storm to cease the moment we say, “Amen,” and sometimes become impatient with God when it rages on. But He knows the exact timing – God is never late.
In Greek, three o’clock in the morning is the start of the fourth-night watch, leading into the first-day watch starting at six o’clock. Both accounts specifically mention the time, which of course, made me wonder why. This hour is known for being the darkest of night and notorious for enemy attacks dating from ancient civilisations. When you think you are at your darkest time, when the enemy is ready to strike a deadly blow, is the exact time you should keep watch. Because during this watch is the time of sunrise and the Light will chase away the darkness.
Prayer: Thank You, Jesus, for always being there even though we battle to see You during dark and stormy times. Thank You, God, for always being on time. Forgive us the times when we become impatient while waiting on You and give us the peace and assurance that the storm is under Your control. Amen.
