Day 14 – Tell them I AM sent you

Exodus 3:14 “And God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM and WHAT I AM, and I WILL BE WHAT I WILL BE;  and He said, You shall say this to the Israelites, I AM has sent me to you.”

God continued to explain to Moses who He is: “The Lord, the God of your fathers, of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob… this is My name forever, and by this name I am to be remembered to all generations.” What kind of a relationship did God have with Abraham? Wasn’t he called the friend of God? What about Isaac? Isaac was blessed by God. When he prayed about his wife, Rebekah’s barrenness, God blessed them with twins, from which two nations were to come. Jacob, the younger of the twin boys, carried the bloodline from which the Messiah was to be born.

As we saw yesterday, the Israelites’ fearfulness of God robbed them of the awesome privilege of hearing Him speak to them, knowing Him. They opted that Moses should listen to God and convey the message to them. The enemy’s lie still withholds people today from having an intimate relationship with their Creator and King, because knowing God, believing in His Son, Jesus Christ, and receiving the Holy Spirit gives us a new identity; it places us in His presence. It allows us to live a life of victory and purpose.

Prayer: Great I AM, God eternal, our Rock of salvation and eternal hope, thank you for reaching out to me first. While I was far, a sinner, lost, You reached out and saved me. I never deserved Your kindness and mercy, but that is who You are – a loving Father who does not desire anyone to perish but to have eternal fellowship with You. Cause me to know You more and more each day! Amen.
