Day 309 – 2 Peter – Growing Christians

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 NIV

Read 2 Peter 1:1 to 3:18

False teachers are often subtly deceitful. Believers today must still be vigilant against falling into false doctrine, heresy, and cult activity. When reading Peter’s warnings, you might think that you would never fall into such a trap, right? But when you listen to a sermon, watch a video, or share a social media “power post” about Christianity, have you checked that it is sound doctrine?

If our faith is real, it will be evident in our behaviour. Growth is essential. Diligence in Christian growth keeps you from backsliding or being deceived. Growth begins with faith and culminates in love for others. To keep growing, we need to know God, keep following Him, and remember what He teaches us. Our sustainability while growing is to constantly seek the Living water and Daily bread.

Prayer: Father, thank You for this beautiful letter of warning and love. Open our eyes to deception and help us to stay true to Your Word. May we grow daily in our faith, not for ourselves, but to love others with Your love. Amen.
