Day 23 – Anxiety

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6

I never realised what anxiety is until I stood with my daughter in a bathroom rubbing her back and telling her to breathe as I watched her fighting for control over her mind. It was not the easiest thing to just stand there and in my mind, it felt like I said all the wrong things.

Though anxiety was not something I was familiar with, I knew at that moment it was an all-consuming reality for my child and I had to try my best to understand it so I can help her through it. Anxiety, I learned, is growing amongst children at an alarming rate and is not something we, as Godly mommies, can ignore. Today’s verse helped me to help my child understand, manage and overcome anxiety.

My prayer is that our children learn the importance of prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving to understand and overcome anxiousness with Jesus. I ask for guidance for all parents whose children face anxiety by using God’s Word to help their children.

Prayer: Father, we parents face a lot of things we do not feel prepared for. But I know that we can face anything with You in our corner. I ask for the protection of our children and that they will know that they can face anything with You through prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving. Amen.
