Preparing the soil – Day 8
Trust the process
“His disciples asked him what this parable meant. He replied, “You are permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of God. But I use parables to teach the others so that the Scriptures might be fulfilled: ‘When they look, they won’t really see. When they hear, they won’t understand.’ “This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is God’s word.” Luke 8:9-11
It took all my reserve not to dig a small hole to see if the seed starred to germinate. But isn’t this what we do with the seed we sow? We constantly open the soil to check for tiny roots instead of trusting. So even when we look for tiny roots and signs of live, we will never really see the true working of the soil nesting and protecting the little seed and helping it to grow. We concentrate so much on the seed that we forget to continuously feed the soil with Living Water and nutrients of truth to create the best growth habitat for God’s Word.
Prayer: Father, thank You for giving us the seed of Your Word and for teaching us to keep the soil of our hearts rich and moist with Living Water. Teach us the patience to trust the germination and growth process of Your seed. Amen.
