Read Colossians 1:1 to Colossians 2:23
Paul teaches clearly in his letter to the Colossians that Jesus Christ has paid for sin and reconciled us to God. And that He gives us the pattern and the power to grow spiritually. Jesus is God in the flesh, Lord of all creation, and the Lord of the new creation. He is the visible image of the invisible God. He is eternal, preexisting, omnipotent, and equal with the Father. He is supreme, complete, and perfect.
And because Jesus is all this and more, we can centre our lives on Him. He is the head of the church, the body of His true believers. Christ is the founder, the leader, and the highest authority on earth. He requires first place in all our thoughts and activities.
Itβs truly an awe-inspiring act of love that Jesus chose to walk on His own creation and to redeem us. To give us a way to unite with Him in an intimate and beautiful relationship and to die to our old selves.
Prayer: Father, thank You for choosing us through Your never-ending love for us. Thank You, Jesus, for taking on flesh just to shed it in death to open salvation for us. Amen.
