Fasting like Daniel – Day 16

Strength
Fast: Sun up to sundown
“I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.” Ephesians 3:16-17 (NLT)
Strength is so much more than just mere brute force. Strength is when you get up in the morning when you feel like hiding deeper under the blankets. To keep your composure when you feel like screaming. To be strong for your children when your heart is breaking in a million pieces because of their hurt. To face your daily situation and try to make the best of it. To be courageous when all you want to do is run. This strength is the strength we received through God’s Spirit. This strength is what makes you grow through faith in God’s love and what keeps you strong.
At times I feel I don’t have the strength to face anything and the quitters corner beckons me to just hang my hat up. But Jesus didn’t quit on us! He endured everything for us to receive strength through the Holy Spirit in any situation. Pray for strength in the areas you need them during this fast.
Prayer: Father, I am not a quitter and I do not want to be recognised as one because Jesus did not quit on me. Please give me the strength to persevere and to grow closer and stronger in You by Your Spirit. Amen.
Scripture: Acts Chapters 13-15 & 2 Chronicles 7:13-14
