Day 3 – Faith that pushes through the crowd

“And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.” Luke 8:43-44 (KJV)

In the gospel of Luke 8:43–48, we read about a woman who had been bleeding for twelve years, who pushed through a crowd just to touch the hem of Jesus’ garment. She believed that if she could touch just the hem of his clothes, that little gesture would be enough to heal her.

She was right. She was also ceremonially unclean. She had been dismissed by doctors. She had every social reason to stay hidden. But her faith refused invisibility. She did not remove a roof – she broke through a barrier just the same. And Jesus stopped everything for her.

Sometimes lifting off the roof looks like pressing through embarrassment. Sometimes it looks like praying again when you are tired of hoping, and God seems to be far away. Sometimes it looks like daring to believe healing is still possible, even when everyone else has given up hope. Stay strong in bold faith, even when you don’t see a way forward. Jesus will provide the way.

Prayer:Dear Jesus, please help me to grow my faith every day. To become as strong in the faith as this unclean woman, who pressed through embarrassment and fear, just to touch the hem of your clothing. Amen.
