Day 2 – Have faith that lifts the roof (part 2)
โArise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.โ Mark 2:11 (KJV)
There are moments in a womanโs life when the door simply will not open. You pray. You plan. You show up. And still the way forward seems blocked. In the gospel of Mark 2, we meet a group of friends who faced exactly that kind of moment. They carried a paralyzed man to see Jesus. They believed healing was possible. They believed a breakthrough was near. But when they arrived, the house was too full. No room at the door. No space at the windows. No access to the healer.
Many of us would have turned around right there. But these friends did something radical. They climbed the roof. They removed part of it. They lowered their friend down in front of Jesus. Imagine the dust falling. The murmuring crowd. The awkwardness. Maybe some older people are getting angry at the arrogance and extreme behavior. The boldness.
And then Scripture says something powerful: โ๐๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ฏ ๐๐ฆ๐ด๐ถ๐ด ๐ด๐ข๐ธ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ช๐ณ ๐ง๐ข๐ช๐ต๐ฉโฆโ Not just the faith of the paralyzed man. ๐๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ช๐ณ faith. The friends of the paralyzed man’s faith were also recognized by Jesus. Faith so determined it could lift off the roof. May you have that kind of faith, not just for yourself, but also for your friends.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank you for honoring determined faith. Please make my faith strong every day. Please help me have faith like the friends of the paralyzed man so that I can believe on othersโ behalf, even when their faith starts to dwindle. Amen.
