Day 4 – Trustworthy

Proverbs 31:11 “Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.”
I am an office worker and share the office with a colleague who is the “boss lady” and I’m second in charge. It’s a busy office and we work individually to reach our deadlines. One day, after she returned from sick leave, she told me she has no fear that when she is absent, the work will get done. I take over from her to ensure the workload is done and vice versa. Immediately the Lord showed me that I can trust her and she can trust me regardless. To me, this is something special – trusting someone. But this trust didn’t happen in one day, the was built over years of working together and getting to know each other weak and strong points.
Trust is a rear commodity in our world today because trusting people is hard. When trust is broken, it will never be repaired and if you are willing to repair it, it takes hard work. Trust is something a lot of us are struggling with because it is usually the people closest to us that break it.
King Lemuel’s mother added to the foundation blocks by seeking a trustworthy wife. In the days of King Lemuel, it was the husband’s responsibility to provide for his family. As a custom, the wife must make ends meet out of what is provided to her. This didn’t change over the years and it is still expected of a wife to take care of her household. A wise and trustworthy woman will use money wisely and nothing will go to waste. If you do a good enough job of caring for your household your husband will not take you to book because the evidence is in the household.
A trustworthy relationship in marriage is one of the most important foundational stones. If this stone is removed the whole house will tumbling down. Marriage is hard work to maintain and for us to be loyal to our partners there must be trustworthy.
We read in Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight”. Isaiah 26:4 “Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord Himself is the Rock eternal”.
Most of us are problem solvers and do not trust anyone to help figure it out. To trust someone else with your problem, you acknowledge that you are not able to solve it yourself. It is hard to realize this.
Trusting in the Lord can be difficult because it takes time to build a trusting relationship with Him, but if the foundation is built on trusting the Lord unconditionally (with all your problems), you will also be a trustworthy woman of God.
A trusting woman is a wise woman, and the Lord will never let you down.
Prayer: Lord, help me to trust You completely and remind me to always consult You first with problems. Be the Rock in Ira 26:4 and the green pastures in Ps 23:2. Remind me often that You are in control of my life and show me Your plan for me. Amen
