Day 5 – None other

“𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘯𝘰 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘨𝘰𝘥𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘮𝘦” 𝘌𝘹𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘴 20:3

The idols in our lives aren’t like the ones we read about in the Bible. No big bronze statues of Baal or the great Sphinx in the Giza plateau of Egypt. Our idols became things like our cell phones, our careers, our pain, our unforgiveness, our overly busy lives, and even the lives of others. There are no slave drivers, slashing whips at us to bow down to them, either; we do it out of our free will. The idols in our lives are the very things driving a wedge in our relationship with God. You will hear God, but you won’t listen because these things are drawing your attention to the world’s opinion of what you should listen to.

To comply with this Godly Command, we should choose God first. Spending time with Him and getting to know His voice in the specific and unique way He communicates with us. Our choice in putting God first allows us to listen as a sign of love and respect towards our Heavenly Father.

Pray with me: Father, please forgive me for the times I have broken this commandment. Knowing and unknowingly. The times I’ve chosen to spend my free spiritual time doing something else instead of getting to know Your voice. Thank You for Your love and Your forgiveness through Jesus Christ. Amen. ©
