Day 17 – El Roi
“Then she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, You-Are-the-God-Who-Sees; for she said, “Have I also here seen Him who sees me?” Genesis 16:13
Friendless, homeless, desperate, and not knowing what would become of her, Hagar lay down by a fountain in the wilderness. An Angel appeared to give her comfort and to speak of God’s grace and mercy. At that moment Hagar knew that even in the dire circumstances she found herself, God saw her. How comforting to know that El Roi sees you right now, and He sees your circumstances and battles. He knows your thoughts and your heart and loves you still.
Psalm 33:18-20 “Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, On those who hope in His mercy, To deliver their soul from death, And to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield.” Just as God keeps His eye over you, we should always keep our eyes on Him.
Prayer: Father, I humbly thank You today for always keeping me under Your eye. Thank You for being El Roi throughout my life where I can look back and marvel at Your Hand in the footsteps of my life history. Amen.
PS… I know there were times in my life when I felt utterly lonely. Like I was the only soul in the world. When I look back at those times, I can pinpoint the moment God saw me and changed my life. I wasn’t lonely, I was seen by El Roi.
