Day 7 – Ready to follow

Jesus said to all of his followers, “If you truly desire to be my disciple, you must disown your life completely, embrace my ‘cross’ as your own, and surrender to my ways.” Luke 9:23 TPT

It’s easy to say you are a follower of Jesus, but the proof is in the way you embrace His cross as your own.

If we are truly ready to be His followers, we choose to be ready for anything – the good, the bad, and the ugly. But the cross of Jesus is not meant to be suffering and heartache, it’s our proof of salvation. Our Joy in serving Him through our actions of obedience and the Grace we live by daily.

Luckily we do not carry our cross alone, because Jesus said we are yoked with Him. Whilst walking through the city streets towards Calvary bearing the physical wooden cross on His bruised and broken back, He was doing it for each one of us. And today still, He carries part of the cross for us. Strengthening, teaching, and guiding us with every step.

My sweet friend, are you ready to embrace this cross? To boldly say: I am ready to follow!

Prayer: Father, I cannot thank You enough for what Jesus did for us carrying the cross all those years ago with me in mind. I am ready to embrace the cross and ready to follow Jesus. When the cross becomes heavier than I can bear, please Jesus help me to carry it. Thank You for Your love, mercy, and grace enveloping us every day. Amen.
