Day 2 – Hide in Egypt

Through the Old Testament God sends His people (Israel) to Egypt. He also sent His Son Jesus to hide in Egypt to escape death at the hand of Herod the King. When Herod passed on, God took Jesus out of Egypt. God uses Egypt throughout the Bible as a place of refuge.
Matthew 2:13-15 “When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you to come back, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.” So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night, and left for Egypt, Where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: “Out of Egypt I called my son.” NIV
Sometimes you find yourself in a place of turmoil and heartbreak. God will always have the best in mind for you and He will direct you to “Egypt” to hide. We are not made to be alone in this world and you do not need to go through troubled times all by yourself. With every step you take, Jesus is already there to lead and comfort you. Troubled times are temporary situations with an expiry date. It doesn’t matter your circumstances, you will find your way out of “Egypt” too by trusting that Jesus made the way for you.
Prayer: Lord, while I hide in Egypt in troubled times I rely on you to guide me to safety. Thank you for having the best in mind for me and with you I can overcome anything life threw at me. Jesus, I ask that Your blood cover me to keep me safe. Amen.
