Day 6 – Faith that carries friends towards Jesus

“And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them. And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.” Mark 2:2-5 (KJV)

In Mark 2, the friends carried the paralyzed man. They knew he needed Jesus’ healing. They knew he could not climb onto the roof. They knew he could not reach Jesus on his own.

At times, you are the one being carried. At other times, you are the one carrying a friend. Sometimes you are praying for a prodigal child; other times you are interceding for someone struggling. You may be believing in your husband, your sister, or your colleague.

Roof-lifting faith is often communal. Jesus saw their faith, not just one of them, but all of their faith together. Never underestimate the power of women who gather, pray, and refuse to lower the mat until it is directly in front of Jesus. If you have no one taking the lead and carrying friends to Jesus, become that friend and carry your friends to Jesus.

Prayer:Dear Jesus, please help me be the friend who carries other friends to Your feet and leads them to Your truth. Amen.
