Day 5 – Faith that runs towards Jesus

“Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house. Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.” John 11:20-22 (KJV)

When Lazarus died, Martha ran toward Jesus. Her grief was real. Her disappointment was evident. “Lord, if You had been here…” And yet – in the same breath – she declared her belief.

Roof-lifting faith does not deny pain. It speaks FAITH right in the middle of it. Some of us think we need permission to bring both our tears and our trust to Jesus’ feet. We are allowed to tell Jesus when we are sad, disappointed, let down, or any other feeling we are experiencing. He wants us to share our feelings with Him. He does not mind if we tell him when we are disappointed or when our plans are not the same as His. We should just always keep faith that He always wants the best for us.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, sometimes I get disappointed, especially if I had high hopes for something and things work out differently. Please remind me that you are always working on things together for my good. Amen.
