Day 6 – Good Soil of our hearts

“The seed that fell on good soil represents those who truly hear and understand God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as has been planted.” Matthew 13:23 NLT

Jesus explains the parable of the sowerto His disciples anddescribes how different people respond to the message of God’s kingdom depending on the condition of their hearts.

Some people hear God’s message but do not understand it, and Satan quickly takes away what was sown in their hearts. Others receive the word with joy at first, but lack deep roots, so they fall away when troubles or persecution come. Some are distracted by worries and the deceitfulness of wealth, which choke the message and prevent it from producing fruit. However, those who truly hear and understand the word will produce abundant spiritual fruit, yielding much more than was initially sown.

Reflecting on our lives, we can see how the Lord has cultivated good soil in our hearts, allowing His word to take root, grow, and flourish. It is the grace of God that He prepares our hearts to receive His truth. But just as we desire good soil for ourselves, we must also pray for our loved ones, that the Holy Spirit will change their hearts, making them receptive and fertile ground for God’s word.

Prayer: Lord, You are a good, good Father. Continue to work in our hearts and in the hearts of our loved ones who need You desperately. Let Your Word fall on good soil and produce an abundance of spiritual fruit. I pray that when we hear Your word, we will understand it and begin to live it out. Grow in us a desire to be receptive to Your truth and to bear lasting fruit for Your kingdom. We lift the unsaved who do not know how You are and that You go down to meet them where they are. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen. ©
