Day 11 – Back up your faith

Hebrews 2:14 “What is the use, my brethren, for anyone to profess to have faith if he has no [good] works [to show for it]? Can [such] faith save [his soul]? …” & 22“You see that his (Abraham) faith was cooperating with his works, and his faith was completed and reached its supreme expression when he implemented it by good works.”

Faith without action is powerless. Any form of faith requires an action. Let’s go back to the day when we got saved. It was not enough to only believe in Jesus Christ – we had to believe with our hearts AND confess with our mouths that He is Lord. And our Christian life is an ongoing walk of faith.

If I wanted to drive somewhere, believing that my car was roadworthy and able to take me there, I would still need to get in and start the engine and drive for my faith in my car to produce results. If I feel compassion for someone in need, telling them that God will provide for them, should I not back up my faith by doing something for them? Isn’t that God prompting me to be a vessel for His glory?

Abraham believed God when God promised Him a land flowing with milk and honey. How did he back up his faith? He obeyed and went to the country without knowing where he was going. He was justified by his works when he brought his own son, Isaac, to the altar. Let’s not hesitate to put our faith in action.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for giving me faith. Thank you that I was saved by grace, through faith. Please speak to me today. Show me what you want me to do, how I should act on my faith to be a blessing to others and a testimony of Your goodness. Amen.
