Day 10 – Look at the birds

Matthew 6:26 “Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they?”
We often only hear the birds singing because we don’t have the time to stand still and watch them. This morning I noticed an LBJ bird (little brown job) hopping around carefree, pecking up whatever he could find to eat. I saw contentment, nature’s built-in instincts and laws at work. All around me, trees and grass have turned green. How? Who told it to?
Have you noticed how cats just know how to wash themselves? Our Creator designed nature in such a way that it continues in its function, day in and day out. This is how He takes care of it.
Jesus makes a deep statement here. Are we, who were made in God’s image, who were created to rule over this amazing nature, we who have been given the privilege to be children of God, not worth much more? Everything we need to fulfil our purpose is built into us. And anything else we need, our gracious heavenly Father has provided. Did He not promise that He is our Provider Who will provide for all our needs according to His riches in Christ? Dear friend, God doesn’t change who He is.
Prayer: Dear Lord, wow, how amazing that You take care of nature in such detail that every kind of flower knows what shape colour and smell to have; the seasons change and the rains come, because You purposed it. You take care of every detail, even in my life. Thank You that I can trust You to be my Provider. Amen.
