Day 7 – GOOD CHEER

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

“But be of good cheer” God is telling us to choose to exist and be happy and have hope.

No matter what we face, we trust God’s plans and timing for our lives. There is no need to be dismayed, despondent or discouraged. We need to understand that God knows everything, He knows the perfect timing.

Greater joy comes from walking in God’s ways. I think of Hanna when she gave her son Samuel back to God. I think of Moses’s mother when she had to put Moses in the basket and let him go. I think of Mary, bearing the son of God, teaching him, feeding him, loving him, and then having to let him go.

These were women who faced tough choices, but they did what was not easy for a mother’s heart to do, as servants of God, they glorified Him. They chose to be of good cheer, they chose to have hope in their God. They chose to have faith in their God.

Let’s learn to do the same.

Prayer: Father God it’s not always easy to be of good cheer. Life is hard and unfair at times. But help us to be of good cheer. Help us to have hope, help us to trust you, in Jesus’s Name, I ask, Amen.
