Day 7 – The spirit of wisdom and revelation
Ephesians 1:17 “[I always pray] that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation [that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight] into the true knowledge of Him [for we know the Father through the Son].”
Yesterday we looked at the mysteries of God’s purpose for us which He wrapped up in treasures of wisdom and hid in His Word for us to find. In today’s Scripture, we notice the kindness of God in that He helps us discover these treasures by granting us a spirit of wisdom and revelation. This is the function of the Holy Spirit.
From our side, all we need to do is want it. Naturally, if we desire to find wisdom, we will ask God, and we would scrutinize the pages of the Bible until we find it. Why does Paul take it so seriously that he prays this prayer? It is so that we would receive a “deep and personal and intimate insight” into who God really is. Let’s stop there. A deep, personal, and intimate understanding of God the Father and His Son? Wow, I know that I want this! How about you?
Let’s pursue this! Let’s search and dig deep in the Word until we find this treasure.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for Your Word that contains Your thoughts, Your promises, Your plan, and Your wisdom. I desire to know You intimately. I want to have a deeper relationship with You than ever before. Holy Spirit, please show me where to look, help me to find these treasures of wisdom. Amen.
