Day 96 – 2 Chronicles: Reign of Solomon

“Then Solomon prayed, “O Lord, you have said that you would live in a thick cloud of darkness. Now I have built a glorious Temple for you, a place where you can live forever!” 2 Chronicles 6:1-2 NLT
Reading 2 Chronicles 1:1 to 2 Chronicles 9:31
In response to Solomon’s request, God gives Solomon great wisdom. With this, he launches great building and other programs, growing his wealth. As king, he achieved much in business and government, but most importantly, he was the man God used to build the glorious Temple. This beautiful building was the religious centre of the nation. It symbolised the unity of all the tribes, the presence of God among them, and the nation’s high calling.
In the midst of the celebration dedicating the Temple, fire flashes down from heaven, and God’s glory fills the Temple. God wants to live among his people and be central in their lives. Today, our bodies are God’s temple, the place where God, through His Holy Spirit, lives and reigns.
Prayer: Father, we can only imagine the magnificent grandeur of Your Temple, but it is with gratitude and praise that we know You dwell within us through Your Spirit. May our bodies, Your temple, be holy, righteous and magnificent for You. Amen.
