DAY 4 – Prayer a priority

Luke 6:12-13 (NKJV) “Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. 13 And when it was day, He called His disciples to Himself; and from them He chose twelve whom He also named apostles:”

Prayer should be our first and most important priority since it is the key to our intimacy with God.

Jesus set the perfect example for making time with His Father and this should be a clear indication that prayer played a very important part in Jesus’ calling and ministry,

In Luke 6 verses 12 to 13, Jesus spent all night in prayer. I believe the ability and strength of Jesus came from His time spent with God.

From His relationship with God Jesus received the following:

• Knowledge and strength

• Preparation for what He had to do

• Inspiration for compassion

• Ability to heal

Hebrews 5:7 (NKJV) “who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear,”

I want to encourage you today, to study the life of Jesus, especially His prayer life (in Luke), and learn from Him, since He is our guidance and perfect example.

Prayer was a priority for Jesus with reason, it should be a priority for us as well.

James 1:5 (NKJV) “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

Prayer: Father God, we thank You for Jesus, being our High Priest and perfect example. Help us to study and apply His ways of praying into our lives, to make prayer our highest priority, and to experience Your fullness and guidance just as He did. Amen.
