This short verse contains a lifetime of action and dedication. To be a helper, we must be committed to building and maintaining a strong household while nurturing a healthy relationship with our husbands.

The relationship between a husband and wife can be compared to a battleship in the military. The husband is the Commander, and the wife is the Second in Command. The Commander is the highest in rank, in charge of the battleship. The Second in Command has a lower rank but is the rightโ€‘hand person to the Commander. Both are highly trained and qualified to steer the battleship. The Second in Command is fully capable of taking charge in the absence of the Commander.

The Commander constantly guides the ship according to strategic planning and direction from the Second in Command, who is also responsible for the dayโ€‘toโ€‘day maintenance and operations of the battleship. The wellโ€‘being of the crew is of utmost importance, and the Second in Command ensures that everyone is cared for. The success of the Commanderโ€™s mission depends on the strategic guidance received from the Second in Command. In a marriage, this relationship is strengthened through trust, honesty, and love.

Prayer: Lord God, help me to understand the weight of my role as a helper. Teach me to do good to my husband all the days of my life, and to strengthen our household with wisdom and love. Amen. ยฉ
