Listen – Day 29

Gifts for you and gifts for me

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17

It’s an amazing thing to receive these gifts, but we need each other in fellowship through the love of Jesus Christ to function as one in the Body of Christ. The gifts God give us are not just for ourselves to build a deeper relationship with Him, but also for others. Every gift has an overflow that touches the lives of those around us.

Always be open to what God is showing you in any situation. You might be comfortable in a specific gift, but God might give you another gift in a certain situation as He requires for His purpose. As you develop wisdom in your own experience of a gift, you can use it as a fail-safe net when you are in a situation you’ve not encountered before.

Balance the gift with the logic of the Word. God will not tell you to do or act on something if it’s contradicting the Bible. Always pray for confirmation.

It’s a progression to understand God in the special gift He gave you. It’s hardest to hear God for yourself.

If you realised you are a spiritual hearer, have conversations with God.

If God opened your spiritual eyes, put on the glasses like a lens focusing on what God is showing you and where you are heading.

If you feel God’s emotions and those of others, feel the atmosphere God positioned you to bring change.

And if you know you are a spiritual knower, know that the outcome in any situation or with anyone you might meet, they will walk away with Jesus.

Prayer: Father, we had the opportunity to learn about the different ways to hear Your voice and to listen to You in the Spirit. I pray that you will guide us into a deeper more intimate relationship with You while we develop the gift You graciously gave us. Thank You for loving us so much that You’re desire is to walk intimately with us. Amen. ©
