DAY 5 – Balanced prayer

“Prayer is not asking. Prayer is putting oneself in the hands of God, at His disposition, and listening to His voice in the depth of our hearts.” ― Mother Teresa

Apart from making prayer a priority, Jesus maintained a perfect, balanced prayer life.

Likewise, we need to apply the same, looking at Jesus, we can see the following four important traits:

• Prayed for others – Matthew 19:13 (NKJV) “Then little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them.”

John 17:9 (NKJV)  “I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours.”

• Prayed alone at times – Luke 9:28 (NKJV) “Jesus Transfigured on the Mount 28 Now it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray.”

Luke 5:16 (NKJV) “So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.”

• Taught about praying – Luke 18:1 (NKJV) “Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,”

• Prayed the Fathers will – Luke 22:42-43 (NKJV) “saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him.”

For today, study the above and also find some additional traits you could see in the prayer life of Jesus, think of ways how you can change your current prayer life to incorporate these.

Prayer: Thank You Jesus for being the perfect example of prayer. Teach us how to pray as You did through Your spirit guiding and leading us to a prayer life of power, impact but also Glory to God. Amen.
