Day 10 – Jehovah Rajah
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” Psalm 23:1 & “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.” John 10:11
To me, the most beautiful descriptions of God as our Shepherd, Jehovah Raja, can be found in Psalm 23 and John 10. When we call “Lord,” we think of God’s deity. When we call “my Shepherd,” we think of God’s humanity. God in human form – Jesus Christ – prophesied in the Old Testament and revealed in the New Testament. In Psalm 23 God is called the Shepherd, but in John 10 Jesus calls himself the Shepherd. As the Good Shepherd, He dealt with the penalty of sin, the power of sin and He will return to take us from the very presence of sin. In verse 27 of John 10, Jesus says that His sheep listen to His voice and that He knows them. Not just is He the Good Shepherd, but Jesus knows you. He hears you when you call. He guides you away from danger and provides all you need. Though we don’t always see it because we want things our way and we want them now! But the Shepherd is patient, loving, and kind and went through hell to guide His sheep in His footsteps.
Prayer: Father, thank You for being my Shepherd. I ask that You would please forgive me, Lord, for the times I do not hear Your voice and stray from Your path. I thank You Father that I am so special to You, that You come and fetch me every time, bringing me back to the pastures You’ve prepared for me. Amen
PS… Have you ever felt lost? Maybe you are feeling lost right now… Listen for the voice of Jehovah Raja and follow Him, for only He knows the way to the pastures He has prepared for you.
