Day 3 – Blessed Abraham

“I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.” Genesis 12:2-3 NLT

To me, this blessing over Abraham exceeds blessings over many because Abraham was to become the father of faith. From his seed came Isaac and Jacob from which the chosen nation of Israel was birthed. He was chosen by God and blessed by God to become the avenue of blessings to ALL the nations which was concluded through Jesus Christ. Galatians 3:14 NLT reads, “Through Christ Jesus, God has blessed the Gentiles with the same blessing he promised to Abraham, so that we who are believers might receive the promised Holy Spirit through faith.”

God’s blessing over Abraham did not stop there in the desert area one night when the father of faith looked up to the stars. Even then, you and I were already included in this precious blessing meaning that we, as gentiles, can walk in the fullness thereof. God will bless those who bless us and curse those who treat us with contempt, and because we chose Jesus Christ as our salvation, our families will be blessed through us too. In turn, all the blessings spoken over the nation of Israel are a promise and blessing to you too.

Prayer: Father, thank You that when you spoke this blessing over Abraham you already thought about me too and through Jesus, Your only Son who is my salvation, I am included. Guide me to walk in the fullness of this blessing. In Jesus’s Name, amen.
