Day 4 – Blessings in disguise

“You are blessed because you believed that the Lord would do what he said.” Luke 1:45
Have you ever heard of the saying, “It is a blessing in disguise.”? We tend to use this phrase when trying to justify something good that originated from something bad that happened. I said this, and I actually believed it! Early 2022 my husband was retrenched. I was not too fond of the company he was employed with as I thought they misused his talents amongst other things, and when he broke the news, I used this phrase. It was a big financial blow to us, and still I continued to use this phrase.
But, as always, God knows best and gave me the wisdom to understand that what happened, was not a blessing. God does not disguise His blessings; they are right there in the Bible written in black on white for all His children to read, know, and accept. The good that came from the bad is the fulfilment of His promise in Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Sometimes, the lines between blessings and promises become blurred if we cannot discern or understand the differences between them.
When you are unsure if it’s a Scripture promise or a blessing, ask God for wisdom and discernment to guide you to understand the difference to accept and walk within it. God doesn’t disguise or hide His blessings from His children.
Prayer: Father, thank You for being such a gracious God to give us promises and blessings. I ask that You please guide us to understand the difference between them. Thank You that Your blessings aren’t hidden from us and are there for all Your children. In Jesus’s Name, amen.
