Day 6 – God’s mystery made known in wisdom

Ephesians 1:7-8 “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace,  which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence,  having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself.”

God’s grace, in which redemption and the forgiveness of sins are found, is abundantly lavished on us “in all wisdom”. God decided to make known to us the mystery of His will, which is His plan of redemption because this gave Him pleasure.

God was excited to share His purpose with us! His plan is to adopt us as His children and to have an intimate relationship with each one of us; it includes living in victory, enjoying an abundance of life, hearing His voice, and eventually living with Him for all eternity. All of this – grace, salvation, the forgiveness of our offenses, healing, His goodness, and blessings – He freely gave to us in His Son, Jesus Christ. This is the key.

It states that the riches of His grace He “made to abound toward us in all wisdom”. Jesus is wisdom, as we saw previously in Proverbs. It is in Christ alone that we can find the riches of God’s purpose. How seriously do we want it? Are we prepared to search for this wisdom so that we can discover God’s wonderful mysteries?

Prayer: Eternal Father, thank you for designing us according to Your image. Who am I, after all, that You would want to speak to me and love me intimately? And yet that has been Your plan from the beginning – to have a personal relationship with me. Thank you for Your Son Who made all of this possible by dying for my sins. Amen.
