Fasting like Daniel – Day 18

Discernment
Fast: Lunch
“I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return.” Philippians 1:9-10 (NLT)
How do you differentiate between the voice of God and the voice of the enemy? The enemy will always be the one lying. It could just be me, but I believe discernment is a powerful safeguard against the onslaught from the father of lies. Discernment can only be achieved through constant Bible study and precious time spent with God to know the Truth by heart to easily spot a lie. Grow in knowledge through Bible study and grow in understanding by practising what you’ve learned. These are great foundational blocks to develop discernment.
It’s important to keep a journal (especially through fast times) to record what you’ve learned from God’s Word and what He shared with You through prayer. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you what topics or areas to further study on. Instead of running around looking for books (and sometimes you are not completely sure what to look for!), there are multiple apps you can use like Blue Letter Bible, YouVersion Bible, Bible Studies in Depth for Every Christian and many more.
Prayer: Father, I pray that our love for Your Word will overflow more and more and that we keep on growing in knowledge and understanding to build on our discernment. Show me the lies of the enemy and how to counter them with the Truth. Amen.
Scripture: Acts Chapters 19-21 & John 3:30-31
