Listen – Day 3

Your God place

“But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.” Matthew 6:6

Our modern civilisation does not include a specific prayer room in our living places. And as much as I want to chuck all my clothes out of my closet as Elizabeth did in the movie War Room, the space is so small and insufficient I would just irritate myself with the claustrophobic space instead of concentrating on praying.

You need a place where you can hear God say: You are home. A place where you discover what God’s voice sounds like and the way He is speaking to you. A place where God can take you deeper, where you can hear Him, find His voice in the pages of His Word. The Bible is not called the Word of God for nothing – it is His Words that formed the pages we read and love.

It doesn’t matter where this place is, as long as it’s a place where you connect with God. It can be on your bed in the comfort of your bedroom, your study, outside in the garden or your favourite couch in the living room. If you do not have a place like this yet, take the time today to make a God place. Put up some scripture or images that remind you of what God means to you. I also advise you to pull a notebook closer to write down what you learn or hear from God. Get ready to listen.

Prayer: Father, I want to find a special place we can call our own. A God place where I can give all my attention to what you are showing, teaching and telling me. I ask Your guidance to show me a suitable place. Amen. ©
