Day 5 – God’s curses

“Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:” Deuteronomy 8:11 (KJV)

In the book Deuteronomy, we read about the curses of the Lord. Moses warns the people about not obeying God’s Word and the consequences that will follow if they are not obedient. These curses should not be seen as threats from God, but rather as guidelines and examples of how to lead a life that is pleasing to God.

In the next few days, we will be looking at some of the specific curses, so that we can be aware of what traps to look out for. The enemy will use anything against us that he can and the more we know, the less likely we are going to be to fall into his traps.

I think it is important to pay attention to these curses because maybe we don’t always know these are curses and that can cause the curse to steal from you. Remember, a curse is an invisible barrier that keeps the blessing God has planned for you away. God gave us the option to choose: Blessing or curse, life or death. What will you choose today? (Deuteronomy 30:19)

Prayer: Father, thank you for your grace and mercy, to give us the choice before life or death. I want to choose life. Please help me choose life and live a life pleasing to You, every day. Amen.
