Preparing the soil – Day 12

Why wait

“Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work. You know the saying, ‘Four months between planting and harvest.’ But I say, wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest. The harvesters are paid good wages, and the fruit they harvest is people brought to eternal life. What joy awaits both the planter and the harvester alike!” John 4:34‭-‬36 NLT‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

I’m one of those instruction reading people. Yes, I read the box or packet and leaflet… While reading the instructions and details on the back of the seed packets I excitedly purchased, I was disappointed to learn I can only sow some seeds in a different season. God taught me that not all are in the season to accept certain seed. And as their soil gets prepared during a season, it will be fertile and ready to accept the seed.

I also learned that just waiting for the seasons to pass to sow again is wasting valuable time. Because the harvest planted in the previous season needs harvesting. Fields don’t tend to themselves. We need to be vigilant for harvest ready fields in any season and at any time to bring a cornucopia filled with people to the feet of Jesus.

Prayer: Father, please open my eyes to keep a vigilant watch over the fields You’ve entrusted me with. Sharpen my discernment to know when to nurture and when to harvest. Thank You for the different seasons in our lives for us to learn different valuable lessons. Amen.
