Day 129 – Psalms: Book 5
“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” Psalm 119:105 NLT
Reading Psalm 107 to Psalm 150
Book 5 of the Psalms, mainly written by David, is similar to the book of Deuteronomy. Just as Deuteronomy is concerned with God and His Word, these Psalms are anthems of praise and thanksgiving for God and His Word. Most of these Psalms were originally set to music and used in worship. It has the potential to make our hearts sing, and we can use them today as they were used in the past – as a hymnbook from our hearts to praise and worship our King.
These Psalms praise God’s works, recount the blessings of righteous living, thank God for deliverance, and praise Him for his wonderful Word and promises. They are a reminder that the best sacrifice we can offer is a faithful and obedient life.
Prayer: Thank You, Father, that every time we turn to the book of Psalms, Your majestic and mighty Word guides, encourages, and fills us with faith to continue the path You have given us. Thank You that Your Word is a lamp to our feet, and our obedience within Your light can never steer us wrong. Amen.
