Day 2 – Plucking Time

Plucking Time

“A time to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted.”  Ecclesiastes 3:2 (NKJV)

Winter seasons are difficult even though we have the knowledge and understanding of why they are needed. Looking at the word plucking in Ecclesiastes 3:2 which refers to taking hold of something, quickly removing it from its place; to extract and quickly or suddenly removing someone from a dangerous or unpleasant situation, I believe it refers to our winter season.

As much as the change of seasons is visible from the outside there is much more happening deep down, especially during our winter times. Truth be told life is challenging and being a believer does not exclude us from having difficult, cold seasons but enables us to look at things from a different perspective.

Our Quince tree is nearly covered in leaves, the visible scars of what the winter has done become less and less each day, and I am reminded that this tree is much stronger than the year before, the leaves are much more and the promise of fruit – unlimited!

Dear reader, as winter seasons are a time of plucking, may you also be encouraged to know that God is at work, when things seem dead or lost, God is able to come and do so much more on the inside and at the appointed time, you will bear fruit and become a testimony of His love and provision. Not all seasons are for blooming, some are for pruning!

Prayer: Father God, plucking seasons are hard and sometimes we do not understand. As we look at our winter season today, thank You that Holy Spirit will remind us of the pruning-taking place and help us to look at things from a different perspective. Amen
