Day 7 – Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Prince of Peace

“For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 NLT

When looking at Jesus as our Wonderful Counsellor, the context is as follows: “Wonderful” depicts a God who is out of the ordinary and does amazing things. “Counsellor” indicates a wisdom beyond what we can imagine. In historical Hebrew culture, a counsellor referred to a king counselling his people. Jesus is our King of kings and we, His people.

As Mighty God, we are reminded of His protection and provision. He is strong when we aren’t, He will protect us when we need to be defended.

Jesus as the Prince of Peace reminds us that we follow a God of righteous peace, who came to bring ultimate peace for eternity. This “peace” is not the absence of war but between God and mankind separated by sin. His death and resurrection reconcile sinners with our Holy Creator. Jesus is altogether Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God and our Prince of Peace.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the triple confirmation of Jesus Christ, who counsels us with heavenly wisdom and divine guidance because He is mighty. Thank You for the eternal peace You secured for us, Jesus, so that we can grow in a wonderful relationship through righteous peace. Amen.
