Day 1 – Come to Me

“Come to me all of you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest” Matthew 11:28
There are times I feel stuck in my spiritual growth and sometimes even in situations – like I’m treading mud and not moving forward. It is tiring to fight against myself and everything else just to move an inch in the direction I think I should be going. Am I the only one?
The most important thing is to go to the throne and not the phone. We try to drown ourselves in social media to make ourselves feel better while reading about other issues. Or we chat with too many people giving conflicting and confusing answers when we should talk to an accountability partner or confidant. Put down the phone and seek a place of silence where you can pray. Jesus promises to give rest to all who are weary and burdened. No strings attached. No hoops to jump through, just “Come to me”.
Giving whatever is making you weary or burdened to Him in prayer will give you perspective to evaluate what is important and what is not. I’ve learned if my plate is overflowing and there is just too much to do for the hours in the day, there is something on my plate not put there by God and I’m trying in my own will to do it. My will is messy. Jesus’ will is perfect and leads to rest.
Prayer: Father, I am weary and burdened and I surrender it all to You, Jesus. I seek Your will and Your rest. Please show me, Lord, what is important for me to focus on today and what is burdensome that will wear me down. I bring all my burdens to Your throne room, my Mighty King. Thank You that You love me this much to take it from me and allow me to rest from my weariness. Amen.
