Day 1 โ Resting in a restless world

The ancient art of truly resting, disconnecting from work, social media, and the rat race we call life, is something we desperately need to rediscover. Look at our hurried culture. Phones ping constantly. Emails never stop. And the pressure to hustle every day is intense. Many of us work through weekends and never take a real day off. Weโve lost the pauses, the rest in lifeโs symphony, and neglect to honour the Sabbath.
A rest revival is possible. We can learn this lost art by embracing the Sabbath as the gift it was intended to be. God did not need to rest when He created our world, but He did for our sake, setting a pattern. He blessed and sanctified the seventh day, specifically as a blessed gift to us. By choosing to keep the Sabbath, you are reclaiming a treasure that was always meant for you. In the depth of David’s words in Psalm 62, he echoes that his soul finds rest in God.
Thereโs something quietly radical about resting in a restless world. Itโs almost a form of resistance. Resisting the notion that our worth comes from ceaseless doing. Resisting a culture of burnout. Long before medical professionals and life coach gurus started to encourage a regular rest day, God wove it into creation and cemented it in the fourth commandment.
Journey with us through these devotionals to learn the deeper meaning and importance of the Sabbath and reflect on Davidโs words, โTruly my soul finds rest in Godโฆโ
Prayer: Father, thank You for the opportunity to explore the well-debated Sabbath and its significance for us today. May we dig deep into the truth behind it and come to a place where we can pause, rest, and Sabbath in Your presence. Amen.
