Day 165 – Daniel: His Visions
“The moment you began praying, a command was given. And now I am here to tell you what it was, for you are very precious to God. Listen carefully so that you can understand the meaning of your vision.” Daniel 9:23 NLT
Read Daniel 7:1 to Daniel 12:13
Daniel’s visions gave the captive nation added confidence that God is in control of history. Only God is all-knowing, and he is in charge of world events. God overrules and removes rebellious leaders who defy Him. God will overcome evil; no one is exempt. But He will deliver the faithful who follow Him. Nations may vie for world control now, but one day Christ’s Kingdom will replace and surpass the kingdoms of this world as Daniel’s visions describe. Our faith is sure because our future is secure in Jesus Christ.
Daniel’s visions and prophecies are theologically viewed as the prophetic key in understanding the current end times and events described in Revelation. Throughout the years, a lot of information, descriptions, and speculations have emerged trying to explain Daniel’s prophecies and predict an accurate timeline of the end times. But we know that only God knows the appointed hour, minute, and second. Instead of trying to decipher the events and predictions of these prophecies, view them as a telltale sign of the times we find ourselves in. May we, like Daniel, pray earnestly for the end times with hearts awaiting our King.
Prayer: Father, thank You for giving Daniel the visions as keys for us, Your children, to know and understand the times we are in and that we can pray and wait for the return of Jesus Christ. Help us understand the insight of Daniel’s visions when we study other books holding current and end-time prophecies. Amen.
