Day 2 – Creeps

“For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions.” 2 Timothy 3:6

I’ve met a few creeps in my life. I am sure you have too! Paul gives Timothy a detailed character breakdown of creeps to avoid (verses 2-5). But sometimes, in our moment of weakness, we allow creeps into our households and lives. Little things creep in causing a negative influence on a peaceful life.

The enemy is the ultimate creep, biding his time to send creeps at the exact moment we are not prepared for it. It’s not a sudden appearance by Mr. Creep, but little compromises allowing the door to your life to open wider each time – threatening our spiritual well-being. He does not advance by leaps, but by creeps.

Identify in which areas of your life you have allowed creeps. This could be a sin or a person with bad characteristics (like those detailed to Timothy) asking you to compromise on your righteous values and allow “little sins” (little creeps) to be acceptable. Sometimes it is good to take stock, clean house, and chase these creeps away for your own strength and spiritual health. You have the strength to do it through Jesus Christ.

A daughter of the King knows it is not the big compromises that hold the threat, but the little creeps.

Prayer: Father, please point all the creeps in my life out to me today and help me to chase them out of my life. Give me the strength not to compromise on Your righteousness and to say No to creeps. Amen.
