Day 11 – Stay Hydrated

“Jesus replied: ‘Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.” John 4:13-14

I can become so focused on reaching the summit of my mountain that I end up so exhausted and drained feeling I cannot reach up the slope for another inch. It is in these moments of spiritual exhaustion I realize what Jesus meant when He said that those who drink the water He gives will never be thirsty again. Jesus is the Living water coursing through our spiritual veins keeping us hydrated with God’s Word. The more we drink deeply from the Bible, the less we become spiritually drained in the moments we need to push ourselves upward.

It is no wonder the Samaritan woman to whom Jesus spoke asked Him for this water because she did not want to return to the well for nourishment. She longed for eternal water and did not want to rely on the world to supply this precious commodity.

Stay hydrated with the water Jesus gives and do not return to the wells you frequently visit. Drink from Him and drink deeply until your thirst is quenched enough to climb to the heights you need to reach. Our hearts should be a place of purity that God can fill up with Himself bringing all the spiritual nourishment we need.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the Living Water which is Jesus to nourish and hydrate our souls when we become spiritually dehydrated. I ask today that You will quench the longing thirst in our hearts so it becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within us. Remind me of this verse when I become so focused on the destination and forget to drink from Jesus. Amen.
