Day 2 – PRAYER AND DOUBT

Genesis 15:7 “And he said to him,” I am the Lord who brought you out from Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to possess.” (Please study Genesis 15:1 -20)
Verses 1-6 of chapter 15 focus on Abram’s concern that he is still childless; verses 7-21 focus on his desire for assurance that the land of Canaan will belong to his descendants. God’s conditional promise in 12:2 that Abram will become a “great nation” is now guaranteed by a covenant, although the fulfillment will not take place until several centuries after Abram’s death.
The lesson in this is that Abram believed the Lord and in the eyes of God made Him credit Abram as righteous. Despite his doubting at first (verse 3), he was credited righteous, and God reaffirmed His promise to Abram. Abram believed.
If you struggle with doubt, it is okay to express those doubts to God in prayer. The best remedy is to remind ourselves of what God has done and said already. His Word is always true; God will never break His promise.
PRAYER: Thank you Lord once again, for showing us that You are God and that You are powerful and faithful to do what You have promised. The Scriptures are records of Your promise made and fulfilled.
