Day 23 – Weaknesses of a Spiritual Hearer

“𝘋𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘣𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘢𝘴 𝘗𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘰𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘌𝘨𝘺𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦. 𝘉𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘦𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘐𝘴𝘳𝘢𝘦𝘭 𝘨𝘰.” 1 𝘚𝘢𝘮𝘶𝘦𝘭 6:6

As spiritual hearers grow in their gift, they will inevitably encounter challenges that require refining. The journey of hearing God’s voice is not always straightforward. It involves testing, discerning, and learning to trust what is received. These weaknesses are not signs of failure but invitations to deeper maturity. Recognizing them is essential because awareness allows hearers to pause, reflect, and adjust their response to God’s voice. “Do I 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 to” or “Do I 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 to” is the simple way of testing yourself on what you are hearing?

• 𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗯𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴: Hearers can question whether they truly heard God or understood correctly. Doubt often leads to hesitation or inaction. (Remember: doubt is not a lack of faith, but uncertainty in confidence. Like Gideon, you can ask God for confirmation.)

• 𝗠𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁-𝘁𝗼-𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀: Hearers often live from one word to the next without seeing the bigger picture. It is important to pause and ask God to reveal the broader context of what He is saying.

• 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗮𝘀𝗺 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲: Excitement about delivering a prophecy can sometimes overwhelm the core of the message. Hearers must learn to communicate clearly, calmly, and prayerfully.

• 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Hearers may feel they don’t need others to fulfill what God has spoken. Yet fellowship and accountability in the Body of Christ are essential for maturity and responsibility.

By surrendering these weaknesses to God, spiritual hearers can grow in wisdom, clarity, and humility—turning challenges into strengths that deepen their gift.

Pray with me: Father, I pray that You guide spiritual hearers to use these weaknesses as stepping stones toward strength. Grant them wisdom, peace, and grace as they grow in their journey of hearing Your voice. Amen. ©
