Day 27 – I am IN CHRIST

“In Christ: Our Identity and Assurance”

Scripture Reading:

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV): “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

Ephesians 1:3 (NIV): “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.”

Colossians 2:10 (NIV): “And in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.”

John 15:5 (NIV): “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

Reflection:

To be “in Christ” is to live in the fullness of a new identity and a transformed existence. The Apostle Paul frequently emphasizes this powerful concept throughout his letters. In 2 Corinthians 5:17, he proclaims that being in Christ means becoming a new creation. The old self, with its failings and sins, has passed away, and a new life has begun. This profound truth is not just about a superficial change; it is about a fundamental transformation of our very nature.

Ephesians 1:3 highlights that being in Christ positions us to receive every spiritual blessing from the heavenly realms. This is not just a future promise but a present reality. Our relationship with Christ secures blessings that far exceed our earthly needs and desires. It’s a divine assurance that we are fully equipped for the life God has called us to.

Colossians 2:10 reinforces our completeness in Christ. Through Him, we are brought to fullness. This means that in Christ, we lack nothing. He is supreme over all powers and authorities, and as believers united with Him, we are empowered to live victoriously.

John 15:5 uses the metaphor of the vine and branches to illustrate our dependency on Christ. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit unless it remains connected to the vine, we too cannot bear fruit or live out our calling apart from our vital connection to Christ. This relationship is the source of our spiritual vitality and effectiveness.

Application:

Understanding our identity “in Christ” changes everything. It means recognising that our past does not define us, that our present is filled with divine blessings, and our future is secure in His authority. Embracing this truth calls us to live boldly and confidently, knowing that we are transformed, blessed, and complete in Him. Our daily walk involves remaining deeply connected to Christ, drawing on His strength and grace to navigate life’s challenges and to bear fruit for His Kingdom.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, We come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the incredible truth of being “in Christ.” Thank You for making us new creations, for blessing us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms, and for bringing us to fullness in Your Son. We acknowledge that apart from Him, we can do nothing, but through Him, we are empowered to live out our calling. Help us to live each day in the reality of our new identity, embracing the transformation You have wrought in us. May we remain deeply connected to Christ, drawing strength from Him to bear fruit in our lives. Guide us as we seek to reflect His love and grace to those around us. We trust in Your promises and rely on Your power. May our lives be a testimony to the greatness of Your love and the richness of being “in Christ.” In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
